Fanny Rey and Jonathan Wahid are celebrating ten years at their Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel, Auberge de Saint-Rémy this year.
The couple met 19 years ago when they were working at the Ritz, she as a chef, he as a pastry chef. After eight years there, during which time their first child Enzo was born and Wahid was crowned French Dessert Champion, they left for a fresh challenge at Oustau de Baumanière in Provence as chef de partie and pastry chef.

But the desire for their own place grew and in 2012, the couple fell in love with a 15th-century inn, then known as the Auberge de la Reine Jeanne, in the heart of the village of Saint-Rémy-de- Provence.

The building was in need of TLC but every winter since, in low season, the couple renovate and restore, while respecting its heritage. The Auberge is a former coaching inn, where travellers on the road to Nîmes would have eaten, rested and changed their horses. Today the ten-bedroom house is contemporary and elegant, but retains the spirit of yesteryear. In 2017, all the hard work paid ofl and L’Auberge was awarded a Michelin star.
