October Food Festival in Rouen: Fête du Ventre to celebrate Norman cuisine
Loosen your belts, la Fête du Ventre – yes, that means ‘festival of the belly’! – is back with a whole roster of scrummy treats.
Celebrating its 22nd year in 2022, the festival returns to Rouen on the weekend of October 15 and 16 and will take place in the city’s Old Market district (Place du Vieux-Marché, Place de la Pucelle, rue Rollon, rue Ecuyère and rue Jeanne d’Arc, which will be closed to traffic for the occasion).
Some 170 producers will share their passion for gastronomy: fruits and vegetables, cheeses, chocolates, cider, pastries, jams and other mouth-watering delights. As well as the market stalls, there will be culinary demonstrations and a chance to see top chefs share their recipes. More than 250,000 visitors are expected to attend this celebration of Norman cuisine, which originally began in the 1930s and has been brought back to life by the Rouen Conquérant cultural association.
Brass bands, traditional recipes, local produce… this really is a celebration of terroir and excellence.
