The Agen Food and Gastronomy Festival returns for a second year next month, with a full weekend of gourmet entertainment guaranteed.

The foodie action will be focused around the Esplanade du Gravier on July 9 and 10, bringing to life a guinguette-style atmosphere on the banks of the Garonne river. A ginguette is a riverside cabaret-bar once popular in France before 20th-century pollution meant rivers were no longer ideal for swimming in, but they’re enjoying somewhat of a resurgence.

Visitors can also expect a farmers’ market bursting with the very best produce from the Lot-et-Garonne department, and displays of culinary genius from variety of foodtrucks and restaurateurs who will give demonstrations, chat with the public and sign books. Live DJ sets will add to the party atmosphere.

A pétanque court and various stands will complete the fun, while the Hang’Art will offer different activities, one on food waste, and the others more aimed at children. Keep your eye on www.lotetgaronne.fr for updates on big-name guest stars soon to be revealed!
