Since 2002, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has been producing its annual list of the finest dining to be had around the globe – and this year the no.1 spot went to Disfrutar in Barcelona.
The accolades were announced at an awards ceremony in Las Vegas and include restaurants from five continents around the world. They were voted for by 1,080 international restaurant industry experts and gourmets who make up The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy.
Paris-based pâtissier Nina Métayer was named The World’s Best Pastry Chef 2024 for her sculptural creations, which have garnered attention the world over. Meanwhile four French restaurants – all in Paris – made it into the top 50, with the Michelin two-star Table by Bruno Verjus taking the No.3 spot. Whether you choose to dine at lunch or dinner, the Couleur du Jour menu will cost you €400 (not including drinks) and includes 10 to 14 courses served over two and a half hours. Also on the 50 Best list were Septime in 11th place, Plénitude in 18th and Arpège in 45th.
The awards’ full list actually numbers the top 100 restaurants in the world, and when it came to new entries in the chart, France led the way with five new restaurants gaining recognition: Le Doyenné (No.70) in Saint-Vrain; Flocons de Sel (76) in Megève; La Grenouillère (77) in La Madelaine-sous-Montreuil; Alléno Paris Au Pavillon Ledoyen (79) in Paris; and Ceto (85) in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.
