château-hôtel

CHÂTEAU DE BEAUVOIS

Once home to Louis XIII’s royal falconer, the four-star château in the lush fold of the Loire Valley is steeped in history – and a marvel of Renaissance architecture. And it has quite the contemporary add-ons too, with a divine gourmet restaurant, the Louis XIII, troglodyte cellar for wine tastings and heated outdoor swimming pool.

HÔTEL SAINT-MARTIN

A stone’s throw from the Sèvre Niortaise River in Poitou-Charentes on the Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, the elegant four-star boutique hotel features stylish rooms, the indulgent Le Logis restaurant, a wooded park and a heated outdoor swimming pool.

ALEXANDRA PALACE

Squirrelled away in Mazières-en-Gâtine, just 25 minutes from Niort, the 17th-century listed château is La Grande Maison Younan’s most recent acquisition. Respectfully restored to its former glory, the five-star palace spells out no-holds-barred luxe with its 160-acre wooded park and 18-hole golf course. The main event is, without doubt, a four-course meal at Le Daniel’s.

DOMAINE DE VAUGOUARD

Once the Duke of Orléans’s go-to hunting lodge in the Loire Valley, the four-star domaine has lost none of its regal appeal with sweeps of lavish rooms, the scrumptious Les Saules gourmet restaurant, an 18-hole golf course, outdoor pool and gym.

CHÂTEAU LE PRIEURÉ

Snug in 25 hectares of wooded parkland with breathtaking views over the Loire River, the four-star château is a period gem boasting Empire-style interiors, a mini-golf course, basketball and tennis courts and – last but not least – the superb Le Castellane restaurant.
