Where to find the best burgers in France – according to the 2025 Coupe de France du Burger
France’s love affair with the burger continues to deepen, with the 2025 Coupe de France du Burger revealing an extraordinary level of creativity among the competing chefs. The competition, now in its tenth year, crowned Camille Loas champion for his sophisticated and technically accomplished creation Le Wellington.
Loas didn’t just win the national title – he swept the board. Representing the west of France, he triumphed in the regional heat, the grand finale, the public’s ‘coup de cœur’ vote and the elite ‘battle of champions’ round. His signature burger, a reinterpretation of the classic Beef Wellington, stunned the jury with its depth of flavour, originality and polished execution.
Joining Loas on the national podium was Kévin Muin, in second place with Le French Dip, an indulgent, jus-drenched creation that impressed with its bold seasoning and nod to Franco-American comfort food. Mathieu Marquet took third with En Terroir Perdu, a burger deeply rooted in regional traditions, showcasing earthy, local ingredients with elegant restraint. All three chefs demonstrated the sheer versatility of burgers and how they can be given an unmistakably Gallic twist.
A new generation of talent also made its mark this year in the competition’s first-ever Young Talents category. Lucas Veith won top honours with his Dampf Burger, praised for its originality and balance, while Elio Moussu and Maël Leroyer took second and third respectively with their inspired entries, Le Burguignon and Un Burger en Terrasse. Their success signals a bright future for bistronomy and they are names to follow for anyone keen to experience the next wave of French culinary innovation.
If this year’s results have proven anything, it’s that the best burgers in France are no longer confined to fast-food trends. They’re the product of thoughtful sourcing, bold culinary imagination and a distinctly French touch.
So whether you’re planning a trip to the Atlantic coast, the mountains of Alsace, or the backstreets of Paris, rest assured that somewhere nearby, an exceptional French burger is waiting. Just make sure to ask if Le Wellington is on the menu.
