Sometimes a burger hits the spot…
You’re in the land of haute-cuisine, the culinary mecca of the world – but even the finest palate on the planet sometimes fancies nothing more complicated than a good old burger.
In recognition of this fact, the website On va au resto has for the second year running held a national competition to find the very best burger in all of the Hexagon.
This year, the winning burger – which goes by the name of Le Guidon – is from Le Garage, a restaurant in Charleville-Mézières in the Ardennes. It was one of 13 candidates, one for each region of France, to reach the final stage of the contest.

Served on a rosé bun made with beetroot juice, the burger is topped with Godel cheese, bacon, rocket, red onions, cornichons, tomatoes, chives and a yuzu mustard sauce. If you want to try it for yourself, you can – just be sure to let the restaurant know in advance because this burger is very much not fast food! Last year’s competition was also won by a restaurant in Charleville-Mézières, Le Galion. Bon appétit!
