France wins silver at the 2025 World Pastry Cup
The Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie 2025 saw France claim the silver medal, losing out to Japan who secured the gold.
Representing France, chocolatier Haruka Atsuji, sugar artist Jérémy Massing and ice cream maker Mickaël Guyader showcased their skills in a series of intricate pastry creations. Their technical precision and artistic presentation impressed the jury, earning them second place in the competition, whose theme was National Heritage.
It is the second consecutive year that Japan has won gold. Their team produced a striking piece featuring a theatrical Japanese character, symbolic lantern and candy canes in Japan’s national colours. Third place went to Malaysia.
Founded in 1989, the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie is considered one of the most prestigious pastry competitions in the world. This year’s event, at Sirha Lyon, introduced a new challenge, the Chocolate Show, in which teams had to create and present 26 chocolate-based finger-food delicacies using Valrhona chocolate.
The jury, chaired by esteemed pastry chef Amaury Guichon, evaluated the teams on presentation, taste, technical execution, originality and respect for ingredients.
