France introduces logo to show where food is from
If you’re popping to the supermarket in France, keep an eye out for a new logo which soon will tell you where exactly your food has come from.
Certain products will be labelled with ‘Origin’Info’ following a two-month consultation amongst the various players in the agri-food sector. By the end of the year, many processed products will display the “Origin’Info” logo, which will indicate the country or countries of origin of various agricultural ingredients in processed foods.

The origin of products, as well as price, is a major factor for French shoppers when choosing what to buy, according to a 2023 study by Appinio.
However, the system, which has been called for by farmers, will only be done on a voluntary basis, to remain within European law. Eighty French companies have already signed the Origin’Info charter.
