Did you know that it’s mugwort which gives pastis its yellowy green shade? And can you guess which drink was banned thereby leading to a surge in the popularity of pastis?
People from as far and wide as Barcelona to Oregon took part in Domaines et Distilleries de Provence’s live virtual tasting recently and learned this and plenty more besides from the fascinating and knowledgeable host, Antoine Robert.
The drinks lines up for tasting were Pastis Henri Bardouin, Rinquinquin (a peach liqueur) and the gold-medal winning Gin XII, with Antoine explaining the production methods, the history and how best to enjoy them, ably aided by spirits industry expert Ed Baird and Taste of France editor Gill Harris.
