If you’re yearning for a taste of France this bank holiday weekend, head to Brighton, where England’s biggest fringe festival is hosting a Normandy Weekend of culture, food and entertainment.

Organised by Normandy Tourism in collaboration with Brighton Fringe 2024, from May 24 to 26, the Normandy Weekend will feature a series of events, including free food tastings, cabaret shows, DJ sets and live performances.

Taking place at Fool’s Paradise, it offers two days of entertainment for the whole family. Sweet treats will include Cara-Meuh caramels, La Maison du Biscuit cakes and Caramel de Pommes Dieppois, a delicious spread made from apples, sugar and butter. For cheese-lovers, there will be Camembert, Neufchatel, Livarot and Isigny Mimolette. And, of course, there’s a chance to try some calvados with a flight of these heavenly apple brandies.

But it’s not all about the food – there’s live music to enjoy too. On Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 4pm, indie-rockers For the Hackers, from Dieppe, will showcase their blend of pop, rock and electro from atop their solar-powered bus.

Also on Friday and Saturday, Normandy cabaret troupe  La Sirène à Barbe (The Bearded Mermaid) will be joined by America’s Got Talent semi-finalist Herwan Legaillard. Hailing from Cherbourg, Herwan combines acrobatic and aerial skills with sword swallowing in an eye-wateringly good show.
