Gluten-Free in Paris: Where to Find the Perfect Pastries

   14

Paris is known as the city of love but for the gastronomes of the world, we travel to Paris for the tastiest and freshest bakeries in the world. Eating a gluten free diet can often hinder the food experience for many travellers, but fortunately Paris has many gluten free bakeries that are among the top bakeries the city has to offer. Here are my 3 favourites:

Copains:

A minimalist affair with fresh baked goods such as croissants, baguettes, pastries, cakes, and much more – there’s a reason Copains is the most famous gluten free bakery in Paris. Copains offers their guests what most gluten free bakeries can’t, options. Hot or cold, sweet or savoury, main or dessert – Copains has it all. With a hearty homemade feel and organic flour, Copains is a must visit for gluten free travellers! The chocolate and hazelnut babka is Copains star pastry.

Location: 60 Rue Tiquetonne, 75002 Paris and 3 other stores located in Paris

Price: €10-€20

Chambelland:

Another high-quality, gluten free bakery is Chambelland, with an extensive menu of bread, pastries, desserts and lunch items. The kind and welcoming staff are very clear with allergies and extremely hospitable, making it the perfect spot for a break from sightseeing! The ambience is sociable and warm which further adds to any visitor’s experience. No visit to Chambelland is complete without trying the Marquise de Popincourt, named after its native parisian village; it wears its charm lightly – flaky, golden, effortlessly elegant. A dairy free tart, with a rich tangy lemon centre topped with a lightly browned meringue. It might be the best gluten free tart in Paris, so it is easy to understand why the Marquise de Popincourt is Chambelland’s signature pastry. Chambelland can also be found in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Location: 14 Rue Ternaux, 75011 Paris

Price: €10-€20

Maison Plume:

Founded in 2012 by Tara Pidoux, a student passionate about baking but hypersensitive to gluten, Maison Plume has been carefully crafted to be an accessible bakery offering responsibly sourced ultra gourmet goods. Everything is gluten and sugar free yet the pastries are still sweet and the portions are extremely generous. Their vanilla flan is incredibly light and creamy, whilst their lemon bergamot cheesecake is rich and airy. Although slightly pricier than other bakeries in Paris, customers are paying for premium ingredients that make for the most worthwhile pastries!

Location: 61 Rue Charlot, 75003 Paris

Price: €10-€30
