Centre-Val de Loire

This region boasts an impressive array of goat cheeses, with five varieties bearing the coveted PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status. From the pyramid-shaped Valençay to the ash-coated Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, these cheeses perfectly complement the local wines. Speaking of wines, Centre-Val de Loire is home to several renowned appellations, including the crisp whites of Vouvray and the robust reds of Chinon.

No visit to the region is complete without sampling rillettes de Tours, a savoury meat spread that’s a local favourite. For those with a sweet tooth, the tarte Tatin – an upside-down caramelized apple tart – originated here and remains a beloved dessert.
